Secretary
  • The secretary will have the very important task of documenting all events, meetings and activities we have. We need to compile a very well organized, fun and easily accessible collection of information for the future generations of our chapter, to ensure a smooth transaction and legacy. We need someone who is very well organized, can be available at meetings, or if they absolutely can’t they should get a summary of the event. Take photos of events, or work with the Communications group to assemble documentation. Creative ideas for this task as to how to organize (does not necessarily have to be in a big binder) are welcome.
  • A report of our group’s progress may be expected at the end of each month.
  • Historian: Have a decent camera to take photos/videos.

Treasurer
  • We need someone to manage our group’s spending, work with the event planner to see if we can afford to spend money on events or other. They will have access to the “treasure chest”. We expect the treasurer to be able to report how much money is in the box at all times.

Expected Skills:
  • Attention to detail
  • Money management
  • Use of Excel or some other spreadsheet form or method to keep track of spending
  • Fund-raising: This is essential to create events, promote our group and encourage others to join. Work with the Commissioner of Publicity to organize fund-raising events.
  • Merchandise: Our products need to be printed, ironed, folded, stored and sold. Ready to be shipped, sold online or on a booth.

Commissioner of Publicity
This officer in this position is responsible of the following tasks. They should be aware of the progress and status of each element and be able to report at weekly meetings.
- IDSA Website: The IDSA website needs to be updated with past, current and future events, new merchandise, news, members, photos, etc. Coordinated with IDSA Board, and Eyes & Ears of Design. Also update IDSA Twitter status.
- IDSA Board: The board in the Design Department hallway needs to be updated with the latest events, officers and news. It must have good visuals to attract attention.
- Graphics: We need to create attractive visuals for all media. These visuals have the potential to be seen from inside the department to the monthly IDSA newsletter.
- Eyes & Ears of Design: We would like to keep the rest of the chapter informed of the latest competitions, design news, networking events of the Los Angeles Area and even worldwide if necessary. Keep in mind the goal is to keep students connected with the professional world and to help them get their word out. Coordinate with the Website and Board.
